Purpose of the Curriculum

The purpose of this curriculum is to standardize best practices in soccer training across the Club. Through clinics and ongoing support from Town Soccer organizations and Clubs, we aim to establish a consistent coaching approach. Given the dynamic nature of our coaching population, maintaining strong connections with coaches is essential. This curriculum serves as a bridge to foster coaching consistency within age groups and developmental progression across age groups. It is designed to guide coaches in providing optimal development for players.

Coaching Support and Flexibility

Coaches will have access to guidance from more experienced colleagues. It is crucial to recognize that each child progresses at their own pace. These guidelines are flexible, as players of the same age often vary in their developmental stages. The goal is to challenge players appropriately according to their abilities. The information in this document is derived not only from our club but also from reputable sources such as the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) Player Development Guidelines, and the Massachusetts State Curriculum. This curriculum integrates insights from soccer observation and experience, as well as research in psychology, child development, physiology, child education, and learning theory.

Implementation and Resources

All coaches should utilize this curriculum to inform their coaching practices, ensuring that players receive the best soccer environment possible. The MYSA and USSF provide educational programs to enhance coaches' knowledge of the game. Coaches interested in taking any offered coaching courses will be reimbursed for the cost by the Organization
